Free LaMar’s Donuts June 6 to benefit Salvation Army fundraiser

June 6, 2014

In celebration of National Donut Day, everyone who visits LaMar’s Donuts June 6 will get a free donut with no purchase necessary.

Area LaMar’s includes a location at 705 S.E. Melody Lane in Lee’s Summit and 3801 S.W. Missouri 291 near Greenwood.

National Donut Day is celebrated the first Friday of every June, a tradition dating to 1917, when women Salvation Army volunteers known as “Lassies” made donuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I.

This year, donation kettles are being placed in participating LaMar’s locations in advance of National Donut Day and throughout the month of June. Proceeds of the campaign will go toward Salvation Army programs supporting a variety of humanitarian causes.

In addition, LaMar’s stores are donating a portion of sales proceeds that week to The Salvation Army’s programs that provide meals to children in need.

The free-donut offer is good for any regular donut already available. LaMar’s Bars, Bizmarks, fritters and other products made without a center hole are exempted.
