Zimmer mergers with NGKF, changes name

June 6, 2014

Zimmer Real Estate Services, which owns several commercial properties in Lee’s Summit, recently joined forces with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and the resulting merger gave Zimmer a new name.

Effective immediately, the company will do business as Newmark Grubb Zimmer.

According to a news release to announce the move, the firm’s chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hugh J. Zimmer explained that the move is best for all parties involved.

“NGKF is financially strong with a proven track record in management and expertise,” Zimmer said in a statement. “Partnering with NGKF is an evolutionary step forward in our company’s future and we are excited to be a part of this innovative platform.”

Newmark Grubb Zimmer is owned and managed by members of the Zimmer family and other senior management officials. In business for more than 65 years and over three generations, it is one of the oldest, independently owned and operated commercial real estate firms in the region.

The firm has been responsible for some of the most iconic regional developments, including the NNSA National Security Campus in Kansas City, Sprint World headquarters campus in Overland Park, Kan., and the Village West tourism, entertainment and retail district in Kansas City, Kan.– each valued at $1 billion or more.

Additionally, the firm is responsible for the development of Rollins Meadows Business Park in Lee’s Summit.

NGKF is considered one of the world’s leading commercial real estate advisory firms.
