Jeremy Bonnesen named assistant director for Summit Technology Academy

Jeremy Bonnesen was named 2014-15 assistant director for Summit Technology Academy at the May 15 Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education meeting.​ ​Bonnesen is currently a guidance counselor at Pleasant Lea Middle School and serves as the R-7 School District’s lead middle-school counselor.

A Lee’s Summit R-7 employee since 1995, Bonnesen worked as an English and Spanish teacher at PLMS before becoming a guidance counselor in 1998. Before coming to Lee’s Summit R-7, he taught English and Spanish at Oak Grove High School for one year. In all, he has 20 years of experience in education.

Bonnesen earned his bachelor’s degree in English education from the University of Central Missouri and his master’s degree in school counseling from UCM. He will receive his specialist degree in educational leadership from Saint Louis University in June 2014.

Within the R-7 School District, Bonnesen has received the Excellence In Teaching Award and a PEAK Grant from the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation. He was named Greater Kansas City Middle School Counselor of the Year in 2011 and received a Lee’s Summit Reflections of Character Award in 2004.
