The Lee’s Summit Symphony and approximately 50 of the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s finest young musicians performed together May 25 at the Symphony Showcase 2014 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City.

The Lee’s Summit Symphony was joined by orchestra members from Lee’s Summit High School, Lee’s Summit North High School and Lee’s Summit West High School. The concert provided a unique opportunity for the students to work with the Lee’s Summit Symphony musicians while performing on the renowned Kauffman stage.

James Farquhar, a LSHS student who won the Lee’s Summit Symphony’s 2014 Young Artist Contest, was a special guest soloist at the event. The 2014 William R. and Lorene Metheny Knight Scholarship winners, Angela Holmes and Isaiah Carter, were also announced during the concert.
