Lee’s Summit Water Utilities announced the winners of the #MyLSwater Photo Contest.
The utility ran its contest through May to celebrate Drinking Water Week 2014.
Lee’s Summit residents responded with a myriad of ways they use water through photos submitted via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and email. A team of Water Utilities employees who are experienced in photography selected the winners and were impressed by the submissions received.
Ashley Tegenkamp received first place for a photo of her son playing in the sprinkler. The judges loved the moment of pure joy that was captured on the boy’s face as he used water for play.
Cesily Lesko received second place for a photo of her dog, Winnie Cooper, enjoying a “refreshing romp in the beautiful fountains outside of City Hall.” The judges liked the framing and the composition of the shot, and especially all the water dripping from the happy dog.
Sarah Dittmann received third place for the photo she submitted of her son splashing in the drinking fountain at Osage Trails Park in Lee’s Summit.
In the children’s category Lance Godard, 11, and Cristian Izurieta, 12, tied for First Place. Both submissions were great compilations of the ways they love to use water and judges loved their creativity.
Water Utilities thanks everyone who submitted a photo using the #MyLSwater hashtag and the Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation for providing winners passes to Summit Waves Water Park.
The photographs can be viewed by going to the city website: cityofls.net and clicking on the Utilities tab.
