Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club

7:15 a.m., Emaline Ballroom – Every Friday morning you are cordially invited to attend the Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary at the Emaline Ballroom, 616 SW Third St. You will have the opportunity to meet our many business members, have breakfast provided by local restaurateurs and hear an interesting program. Farmers Market

7 a.m., corner of Second and Douglas streets – Every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to sell out, shoppers can get some of the freshest produce in town. For more information, call 816-246-6598.

GardenWalk

10 a.m.-6 p.m., The tour starts at the corner of 6th and Miller (601 SE Miller St.) – Explores amazing gardens in one of Lee’s Summit’s beautiful historic downtown neighborhoods. Enjoy flowers, butterflies, architecture, history and more. Tickets can be purchased for $5 per person at Great Southern Bank locations in Lee’s Summit or the day of the tour.

Speak The Truth Toastmasters

4-5:30 p.m., 2nd & 4th Saturdays, Unity Village Chapel community center – Everyone welcome.

SummitFest

6-9 p.m. Legacy Park Ampitheater – A fun-filled family evening hosted by a dozen local churches to benefit Lee’s Summit Social Services. This event is free and includes live music, refreshments and inflatables for kids. The evening will end with a strength demonstration and uplifting message from Team Xtreme. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket and a nonperishable food item or financial contribution for Lee’s Summit Social Services.

Children’s VBS “Making Tracks”

June 16-20; 9-11:30 a.m.,Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1025 SW Ward Road – Children ages 3-12 are invited to join for music, crafts and fun and exploring God’s word. Al-Anon

Noon, First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, 1625 NW O’Brien Road – Is someone’s drinking causing you problems? Come to Al-Anon and join friends and family of alcoholics. The group meets weekly at noon on Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Compulsive Eaters Anonymous HOW

TOPS

8:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, 2 NE Douglas Street – Lee’s Summit Tops club meets every Tuesday morning at 8:30 am at the annex building behind First Baptist Church. American Sewing Guild

10 a.m.-noon, Hancock’s Fabrics in Belton –Clara Hoffman will demonstrate Furoshiki, the Japanese art of fabric folding. Bring a 24 inch fabric square to do a hands-on. Visitors are welcome.Call Anita for info 540-2096

Helping Hands of the Willing Workers

1 p.m., Longview Chapel Christian Church, 850 SW Longview Road – Join a weekly group that makes crafts and sews for the benefit of the church. The Helping Hands make items throughout the year to earn money for the building fund and make cheer baskets for the homebound. The group invites anyone looking for fellowship, fun and those who enjoy creating items, to join them. The group furnishes all supplies and is always looking for new ideas. Lee’s Summit Downtown Rotary Club

4:45 p.m., Lee’s Summit Firefighters Union Hall, 322 SE Douglas St. – The club’s mission is to meet the charitable needs of the local community and participate in worldwide humanitarian causes by utilizing the energy and dedication of its members. Kiwanis Club

6 p.m., Lakeside Dining Room at John Knox Village – The Kiwanis invite you to join them as they volunteer their time to serving the children of the world. The Lee’s Summit chapter of the Kiwanis are dedicated to service projects including sponsoring little league baseball and softball teams, assisting with Hope House, providing scholarships and other projects. Fear Not Support Group 

7 p.m., Tuesday evenings, New Summit Presbyterian Church 1800 NE Independence – Fear Not Support Group is a Christ-Centered support group for anxiety and depression. Material is based on the Christian 12 Steps also Anxiety Centre http://www.anxietycentre.com/, also “The Anxiety/Phobia Workbook” by Edmund Bourne. 

Lee’s Summit Masonic Lodge

7 p.m., Lee’s Summit High School Performing Arts Center – Lee’s Summit’s Got Talent is a fundraiser to benefit the programs of Lee’s Summit CARES, a non-profit community coalition that works to reduce substance abuse and youth violence.
