R-7 before- and after-school services announces 2013-14 award winners

Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Before- and After-School Services hosted its annual awards celebration at the Stansberry Leadership Center. The event honors the accomplishments of individual employees as well as school site programs.

Staff members receiving awards at the event included Marissa Kubicsko of Richardson Elementary, Rookie of the Year; Sheila Berkstresser of KC Cubbies, Overachiever of the Year; Jesse Hamilton of Longview Farm Elementary, Energizer of the Year; Stephanie Davis, 3LYNX, Associate of the Year; Jessica Shaw of Longview Farm Elementary, Assistant Site Coordinator of the Year; Juanita Choplin of Mason Elementary, Site Coordinator of the Year; Gerry Fenton of Summit Pointe Elementary, Mr. BASS; and Alyssa Twaddell of Hawthorn Hill, Ms. BASS.

BASS Site of the Year Award went to Cedar Creek Elementary. Combo Site of the Year went to Summit Pointe Elementary, which also serves Hawthorn Hill Elementary and Trailridge Elementary Schools.

The school district’s recognized program includes Kids Country, providing before- and after-school care for elementary-age children; KC Cubbies, which serves pre-school children; 3LYNX, a program for middle-school students; and SummitRise, a no-cost program providing structured student supervision at R-7 elementary schools on late-start Wednesdays.
