June 18, 2014

Several members of the Summit Christian Academy girls soccer team received postseason honors recently.

Junior Madison Sallas was a Missouri Class 1 first-team All-State selection, while freshman Kassi Ginther was selected second-team All-State. Senior Rachel Bacon was All-State honorable mention.

Sallas, Ginther and Bacon were also selected for the All-Crossroads Conference, All-Class 1 District 13 and All-Region teams, as were junior Jessica Kliewer and sophomore Kaeli Shearer. SCA freshman Erica Thompson also made the All-District and All-Region teams.

“This was an awesome season for our team,” SCA girls soccer coach Amber Siemsen said. “The team worked hard and I’m proud of their accomplishments, and the girls who were recognized are well deserving of this honor.”

Bacon finished as SCA’s career leader in 118 goals (118) and assists (93). Ginther’s 45 goals were the most scored by an Eagle in a season.

SCA finished the season with a 13-5-1 record. The Eagles won their first district championship in the program’s history.

And Kassi Ginther was named 2nd team All-State. Rachel Bacon received All-State honorable mention.
