SLMS hosts reading celebration

June 25, 2014

Summit Lakes Middle School held an end-of-the-year reading celebration May 16.

During 2013-14, students read almost 11,000 books or more than 3.2 million pages.

The school’s business partner, Price Chopper, sponsored parties for the 43 homeroom groups collectively reading 50,000 pages or more.

Price Chopper offers parties, known as Feeding the Reading Appetite, annually at the school with the help of Dan Scassellati, store manager.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
