The Lee’s Summit Legion Outlaws took both games in a double header June 21 against Post 11 St. Joseph at Legacy Park.
The Outlaws won the opener 5-1 behind the pitching of P.J Seufert, who held Post 11 to five hits and a walk.
Seufert threw seven scoreless innings after Post 11 scored its lone run in the first inning. The Outlaws took the lead for good in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs on a double by Herb Byers. Seth Soto also drove in two runs and Hayden Bradford went two for three for the Outlaws.
In the second game, the Outlaws needed only six innings to roll to an 18-0 victory. The Outlaws scored five runs in the third inning and ended the game with a 10-run sixth.
The 18-run outburst was more than enough to support winning pitcher Miles Kilgore, who held Post 11 to three hits while striking out seven. Kilgore didn’t give up a hit until the fourth inning.
The Outlaws also dropped two games to Fike on June 20 at Legacy Park, losing the opener 4-3 and falling in the nightcap 14-4. The team was 17-9 before playing Post 21 on June 24.
