Freedomfest offers family fun June 28

June 26, 2014

Greenwood’s Freedom Fest and Fireworks this year offers children’s rides, arcade games, a dunk tank, a live band, a car show and more, building up to a great fireworks show.

There also will be a raffle for Royals tickets and a silent auction raising money for playground equipment and a wide range of food, drink, craft and informational vendors.

The free admission event starts at 4 p.m. June 28, with fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Joel Dean Hitt Park. Parking is limited, so handicapped parking is at the park, with others parking at Greenwood Fellowship, 1601 W. Main St. (Missouri 150 Highway) where shuttle buses will provide rides to the park.

A $10 wrist band includes all carnival rides and arcade games. Visit the silent auction and bid on various baskets donated by local businesses and buy raffle tickets to win four Royals tickets. The schedule includes:

• 4-6 p.m. car show

• 4:30 p.m. fly over by Dave Perry and the KC Flight Team

• 6- 9 p.m. country band “Shadow Riders”

• 8:15 p.m. Sky Divers of Kansas City (John and Chris Hall)

• 9 p.m. Summit Theater Group performs songs

• 9:30 p.m. fireworks
