R-7 bus drivers capture awards in Missouri State School Bus Safety Competition

Six Lee’s Summit R-7 School District bus drivers competed in the Missouri State School Bus Safety Competition, held June 19 and 20 at Bingham Middle School.

Stephanie Pierce earned fifth place in the rookie division, Jennifer Stuerke earned third in the experienced division, and Linda Bishop earned second in the experienced division.

Linda Bishop qualified to compete in the International Safety Competition, representing Missouri in Charleston, S.C., on July 19 and 20.

Bishop received a $250 scholarship from the Missouri Association for Pupil Transportation to assist with travel costs.

Linda Thompson, Adam Schwartz, Sandi Larsen and Regina Hancock of the R-7 Transportation Department served as judges during the competition.
