An article written Mike McGurk, athletics/activities assistant principal at Lee’s Summit North High School, was recently featured in “Interscholastic Athletic Administration.”
The national magazine is designed for interscholastic athletic directors and is distributed throughout the nation.
The article, included in the summer 2014 issue, was titled “Middle School to High School Sports – Ways to Ease the Transition.” It focused on how to provide support for student-athletes as they enter high school and included tips for coaches and school administration. It also explained how to effectively educate school staff members, parents and students during the transition.
McGurk has been at Lee’s Summit North High School since July 2013. He previously worked in Jefferson City School District and has been a school administrator for 12 years. Before moving into administration, he worked as an English teacher and high-school coach. In all, he has worked in education for 19 years.
