About 100 persons met to form a Lee’s Summit area Democratic Club. Officers elected were Nate Corder, president; Richard Spencer, vice president; Corinne McCuistion, secretary; and George Mossie, treasurer. Board of Directors elected were Don Browne, chairman; Bob Street, Winston Conkling, William Baker, Fred Arbanas, Don Davis, Doug Sharp, Dudley Fraley, and Stan Magady
Frank Orthel, 78 died. He was a retired science teacher in the Lee’s Summit School District. He was born in Hancock County Iowa and lived in Lee’s Summit 30 years. He was a science teacher 18 years in Lee’s Summit before retiring in 1962. He graduated from William Jewell College in 1926. Burial was in the Austin Cemetery in Cass County.
State Representative Robert Johnson was pictured in the Lee’s Summit Journal telling a meeting of City Clerks and Finance Officers of his impressions of the Missouri General Assembly.
A recent graduate of the Research Hospital and Medical Center School of Medical Record Technology is Nancy Alley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Alley. Nancy is a 1972 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School, where she ranked second in her class academically.
