R-7 extended year students participate in basketball activities

From far away, it resembled any other basketball practice. Passes were thrown, shots were made, and plenty of high-fives were shared.

But when you looked closer you noticed the goals were lowered, some just mere feet off the ground, and the players weren’t your average players. They were students in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District extended year program, who have a wide range of needs and motor skills.

The students were able to shoot some hoop and show off their moves, thanks to Blake Little and Erik Ahlquist, Lee’s Summit High School boys’ basketball coaches, and the LSHS Tiger players.
