COMMENTARY

Echoes

Guest columnistJuly 10, 2014

last sunday

we went

on the road

again

with willie

and our

friends

we can be

moving or

we can be

still

but still is

still moving

to us

our lives

not always

whats called

the good life

but they are

our lives

crazy even

after all

these years

good hearted

women good

timing men or

the other way

around

someone

always on

our minds

although

we dont

tell them

often enough

our angels

fly too close

to the ground

and we need

help

to make it

through

dark nights

our babies

may not

grow up

to be doctors

and lawyers

and such

but they do like

warm puppies

and children

we are a band

of brothers

and sisters

shouting

bring it on

have seen

the light

fleetingly

wonder if

the circle

will ever be

unbroken

remember that

one morning

we will

fly away

then

you might

roll us up

and smoke us

the evening

experience

was like

church

for me

when it

ended

i had been

born again

again
