Mental health fair

July 11, 2014

ReDiscover Mental Health in Lee’s Summit is of one of six Mental Health First Aid training sites throughout metropolitan Kansas City. Nearly three dozen working professionals participated in training exercises July 10 at ReDiscover, including this group who exhibited the difficulties of a schizophrenic person in the midst of a psychosis state. Carol Roeder-Esser, left in pink, of Johnson County (Kan.) Mental Health helped facilitate the exercise. The one-day, metro-wide effort trained nearly 280 people on how to respond to someone who may be having a mental health crisis.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
