Lee’s Summit student receives engineering award, graduates magna cum laude from MU

Mark Hansen of Lee’s Summit received the outstanding student award for mechanical engineering and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri College of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in May 2014.

Hansen is a 2010 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and is the son of Greg and Ferrell Hansen. While at MU, Hansen was named to the College of Engineering Dean’s High Honor Roll, which recognizes engineering students who achieved GPAs above 3.5.

He received the Engineering Deans Development Scholarship and the Engineering Merit Scholarship in addition to being a Curators Scholar at MU. At the university, he was a member of the hydrogen car team and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
