Community blood drive July 28

July 24, 2014

Lee’s Summit will host a community blood drive July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green Street. Visit www.esavealifenow.org and enter the code “ cityleessummit” to sign-up for the “CARING … it’s in our blood” event.

The blood collected that day will be used to supply local hospitals, including those in Lee’s Summit. The requirements to donate blood are few. You must be in good health, weigh a minimum of 115 pounds and be at least 16 years of age. Drink plenty of fluids and eat a good meal prior to your donation, which will take less than an hour.

The Community Blood Center has a check-list of the requirements on their website to verify your eligibility to donate blood. While walk-ups are permitted on the day of the blood drive, it is preferred and highly recommended that you sign-up in advance on the website.

For more information, contact the blood drive organizer Stephanie Walters at 816- 969-1870.

Lee's Summit Journal is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
