O’Connor graduates from basic training

Pfc. Nathaniel W. O’Connor, 19, of Lee’s Summit, graduated July 18 from the United States Marine Corps boot at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

O’Connor completed 13 weeks of intensive training as a member of platoon 2106, ECHO Company. While in recruit training, O’Connor was appointed platoon guide and graduated as honor guide. He was personally presented a challenge coin by Sg. Maj. Michael P. Barrett of the Marine Corps. O’Connor, a 2013 graduate of Lee’s Summit West High School, lettered in swimming four years and was All-State in swim. Following 10 days home leave he will report to Camp Pendleton, Calif. for advanced training.
