SCA softball loses to Winnetonka in opener

August 28, 2014

Summit Christian Academy couldn’t make an early lead stand and fell to Winnetonka 10-4 Aug. 27 in the Eagles’ softball season opener at Winnetonka.

SCA led 2-0 when Joely Gage made it 4-0 with a two-run homer in the third inning. The Griffins came back from there and scored the game’s final 10 runs.

SCA got a strong showing on the mound from junior Hannah Glidewell, who struck out 10 Griffins while giving up only three earned runs.

"Despite the loss, it was an encouraging performance," SCA softball coach Tiffany Ellison said. It was Ellison’s first game as the Eagles’ coach.

Summit Christian’s next game is Sept. 4 at Sherwood. The Eagles play their first homegame Sept. 8 against Richmond.
