Lance Quessenberry, a former high school and college coach, was recently selected the new Secondary Athletic Director at Summit Christian Academy.
Quessenberry brings 19 years of experience in athletics to SCA, most recently at the collegiate level. Quessensberry joins SCA from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., where he was an assistant professor in the Department of Athletics and Kinesiology and the head baseball coach. He also coached and taught on the high school level for 10 years before coming to Evangel.
Quessenberry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Social Studies and Master of Education from Southwest Baptist University, and a Master of Educational Leadership from Evangel University.
“Lance Quessenberry is a strong and capable leader with a servant’s attitude who wants to advance the vision, mission, and values of SCA within our athletic program,” SCA Secondary Principal Emir Ruiz-Esparza said. “He brings with him high expectations, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to see students and coaches succeed.”
Quessenberry replaces Jake Kates, who resigned last June after 12 years to devote more time to his family and a business he started. Kates will remain SCA’s boys basketball coach.
Quessenberry, his wife, Darla, and daughter, Keyler, will be re-locating to the Lee’s Summit area. Keyler will be attending SCA.
