Lee’s Summit West’s O’Connor earns all-state honors in Class 4 state golf tournament

James O’Connor of Lee’s Summit West earned all-state honors when he finished tied for 15th in the Class 4 state boys golf tournament this week.

O’Connor, a senior, shot a 78 Monday and a 76 Tuesday for a 154 total on the par-72 Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin. O’Connor also made all-state last year when he finished third overall. The top 15 induvial finishers are selected all-state.

O’Connor’s two-day total was the lowest among the six qualifiers from Lee’s Summit schools in the Class 4 meet.

Jackson McGuire of Lee’s Summit tied for 27th with a 78-80 158 total, Michael Worth of Lee’s Summit North tied for 36th with a 79-81 160, Conner Johnston of Lee’s Summit tied for 60th at 83-84 167, Parker Jones of Lee’s Summit West also tied for 60th at 82-85 167, and Logan Dahmer of Lee’s Summit West tied for 77th at 86-85 171.

Rockhurst won the team championship with a 305-305 610 total. Joseph Terschluse of Chaminade won state medalist honors, carding two 73s to finish at 146.

SCA golfers place

Alex Brown of Summit Christian Academy finished tied for 16th in the Class 3 state tournament at the Fremont Hills Country Club. Brown had rounds of 79 and 82 for a 161 total.

SCA’s Keegan Glade ended up tied for 49th with an 86-91 177 total.
